Working of Load Cell Amplifier
The major work of a load cell amplifier involves converting the input signal into stronger signal. This is done by signal conditioning. Thus, a load cell amplifier will need extra power. This conditioning can be done by filtering, linearization, etc.
The output voltage is in the range of millivolts. When the load cell is connected to other devices, reading in millivolts is difficult, which is also why an amplifier is used to condition the signal and makes it readable on other devices. Aerospace, marine, heavy lifting and automotive industry find major applications of load cell amplifier.
Calibration:
Inspection for the cable and the coil of load cells is done. This involves equal load placement amongst the various load cells installations. Any difference should be balanced again.
How: Initially the dummy load cells are used, which require adjusting the weights of shelves. Weights are attached after the vessel fabrication in case of ASME vessels. Calibration of the device is already done when ordered with the amplifier.
